3+1+1 Program

Prospective students complete 3 years of undergraduate study in partner universities. During the third year, they apply for the non-degree seeking program at MU for the first “1” year.

Requirements for the First “1” Year Admission at MU:
- A minimum GPA of 3.0
- Meeting MU’s minimum language test requirements
The Application and Admission Process:

- Prospective students request official scores from TOEFL or IELTS exams to be sent directly to the International Undergraduate Admissions Office at University of Missouri-Columbia (the institution code is 6875). The delivery can take 4 weeks.
- Partner universities in China collect the following documents:
- Application Instructions (PDF)
- An official, sealed transcript of the undergraduate courses taken in partner universities, and an official English language translation of the document not issued in English.
- Evidence of financial support and affidavit of support form:
- An official bank document (e.g. Certificate of Deposit) evidencing ability to pay one year’s cost of attendance. This amount is calculated from costs associated with tuition, non-resident fees, room & board, estimates for textbooks, personal expenses, travel and mandatory health insurance. Visit https://admissions.missouri.edu/costs/ for the necessary amount. MU Financial Support Instructions. This evidence should be on official bank letterhead and contain the specific amount of available funds; account information (account holder’s name in English, account number); date; and bank officer signature.
- If the applicant is financially sponsored by a relative, friend or other person, the official bank document should be accompanied by an Affidavit of Support. This form should be completed and signed by the sponsor.
- An application fee: applicants can include the international credit card information in the application form, or mail a bank check or money order paid to “University of Missouri”
- A copy of the passport ID page
- Three letters of recommendation
- Statement of purpose (a letter from you that outlines how you see participation in the program advancing your professional goals)
- Resume
- For prospective students whose Standard English test scores do not meet the minimum requirement, they need to follow step 1 and 2. In addition, they apply for the admission to the Intensive English Program (IEP) at MU through.
- Partner universities deliver via express mail all the application packages in bulk to the coordinator at MU by April 1st for Fall admission and October 1st for Spring admission to the following address:Dr. Rui Yao

United States - Personal Financial Planning makes a copy of all the application materials and keeps a record of applicants for tracking purposes. Initial the transcript envelope.
- Personal Financial Planning sends all the application materials including items 1) through 5) in Step 2 to the International Undergraduate Admissions Office (campus address). Personal Financial Planning sends IEP and International Admission a list of students who need to improve their English skills.
- IEP informs Personal Financial Planning and International Undergraduate Admission Office about students who are admitted to IEP.
- The International Undergraduate Admission Office reviews the applications and makes admission and conditional admission decisions.
- IEP sets up the I-20s in MyZou for students who are admitted to IEP and notifies the International Center to submit, print and sign the I-20s.
- Personal Financial Planning picks up I-20s issued from the International Center and sends the I-20s and admission letters to partner universities via express mail for distribution to applicants.
Students will arrange interviews to obtain an F1 visa once they receive the admission letter, the I-20 and have made the decision to accept the offer. During the last semester, students can visit with Eric Praschan regarding dual enrollment (taking some graduate courses before formally admitted into the MS program).
Qualified students enrolled in the “3+1+1” program can apply for MU Graduate School during the second semester.

- An official formal acceptance letter from the Personal Financial Planning department.

2+2 Program

Notes:
- Personal Financial Planning collects and sends course descriptions of all the courses students took at partner universities to the International Undergraduate Admission Office. For upper-level courses, more thorough descriptions or syllabi will be helpful.
- Students can transfer to MU up to 72 credit hours of equivalent courses (with C- or above) taken at partner universities. Most language and PE credits as well as military training cannot be transferred.
- Students in the “2+2” program need to provide evidence of financial support when they apply for the MU graduate school to obtain a new I-20
- Students who meet all requirements will receive a BS degree from MU.
