Personal Financial Planning Department Listserv

Periodically, we send an electronic newsletter with information on your department of Personal Financial Planning. We will include news on student and alumni successes, faculty and departmental achievements and milestones, and campus events that may be of interest to our alumni and students. In addition, we occasionally receive invitations from employers asking us to send them the names of current and past students that may be looking for a new career challenge.

Please sign up on the list serve that is appropriate for you, to help us keep you informed and for you to keep us abreast of events in your lives. Thanks to all of you for what you do to help make your department the best it can be!

The Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. (CFP Board) grants the Certified Financial Planner™ [CFP®] designation
The mission of the CFP Board is to help people benefit from competent, professional and ethical financial planning.

 

The International Foundation for Retirement Education (InFRE) grants the Certified Retirement Counselor® [CRC®] and Certified Retirement Administrator® [CRA] designation.
The mission of InFRE is to provide a respected and rigorous certification program for retirement professionals in human resources and benefits personnel, retirement plan sponsors, and financial services providers; to become the nation’s primary, independent source of information and educational programs concerning retirement issues; and to inform the public by means of top-quality print materials and broadcast programs which target education as the only solution to the retirement crisis.


PROFESSIONAL ASSOCIATIONS

Academy of Financial Services (AFS)

AFS endeavors to encourage basic and applied research in the area of personal financial planning and financial services; encourage development of the curricula in the financial services field at the university level; and encourage interaction between financial services professionals and academicians

American Council on Consumer Interests (ACCI)

ACCI is the leading consumer policy research and education organization consisting of a world-wide community of researchers, educators and related professionals dedicated to enhancing consumer well-being.

Association of Financial Counseling and Planning Educators (AFCPE)

AFCPE works to promote improved personal financial management education; education, training, and certification of financial counseling and planning professionals; research in personal financial management; and dissemination of research findings and program methodologies related to financial counseling and planning education. AFCPE’s goal is to improve the quality of life of our end users - families and individuals who, regardless of their incomes, are struggling to get ahead.

Financial Planning Association (FPA)

The primary aim of the Financial Planning Association (FPA) is to be the community that fosters the value of financial planning and advances the financial planning profession.
