Lucy Schrader has an MA in Educational and Counseling Psychology from the University of Missouri and currently serves as HES Associate State Specialist and Building Strong Families Program Coordinator. Lucy has worked with the Building Strong Families Program for University Extension since 1998. The program helps families find their strengths and build on them, improve relationships, learn and practice life skills and increase positive communication. The program covers 13 topics and uses hands-on activities to involve participants (http://extension.missouri.edu/bsf).
A large part of her efforts are focused on collaborating with Extension colleagues and outside agency partners to strengthen families. Part of her responsibilities are to train others to teach the program, update the curriculum, teach workshop sessions, present the program and activities at conferences, and maintain a network for people who have received training with certified facilitators in Missouri, Arkansas, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah, Texas, Illinois and Minnesota. Since 1997, the program has reached more than 11,000 people and 2,000 youth.
